So this thing was brought to my attention and made up by who has decided that November should be a tribute month for all of the original characters that don't get enough love from their owners.

Sounds like a good idea. I've been severely forgetting my own character for fanart (as you can see) and my own laziness. It's already been giving me a burst by redesigning some of my older ones.

SO why not give it a little shot? Here's the journal entry that Arai made so you can read for yourselves if not go to her journal itself.

Recently on Y-Gallery I made a poll to determine a month where people can be reminded to show their appreciation to their neglected Original Characters. It was an idea that struck me out of a realization that I have OCs that I don't give nearly enough time and attention (plus late-night boredom). So the idea for having a month to try and give them some much needed appreciation came up and I made a poll see if people agreed and to choose the month most appropriate for it. I would have made a poll here too, but I don't have a paid subscription with DA.

Luckily people did agree and so the unofficial "Under-appreciated OCs Month" is.....November!
[I really need to think of a better name. Maybe "Neglected OCs" or "Forgotten OCs" Month?]

Which is a little sooner than I was expecting. haha
But I want to encourage the celebration of it here on DA as much as on Y!Gallery, 'cause I have more than just male OCs that need some luv and attention.


So wither you are a Fan-artist/writer who needs to show your OCs a little more luv, or an OC artist/writer who has some neglected characters that could use some of your attention, lets take a month to let our original characters know how much we love and appreciate them.

Because, let's be honest, our OCs do a lot for us don't they? At least I know mine do. They help us to express ourselves, feed our fetishes, give us willing (and unwilling) victims to torture when we're upset, cheer us up when we're depressed, and are always there in our heads to bug the hell out of us and let us know we aren't really alone ('cause we OC artists are all schizophrenics apparently lol). So they deserve some appreciation for that, don't you think?


So, I know it is a little short notice. But I do hope that plenty of people next month will be able to do a little something for it. No effort is too small as long as we can show a little bit of luv too our poor neglected "children". Pictures, sketches, short stories, drabbles, memes....and whatever else.
